Utah 2012
In spring of 2012, I headed out with Jen on my first ever backpacking trip in the desert. It would also be the first time I put my very first dslr to use. I couldn't really ask for a better trip. We spent the first night at the Lower Calf Creek Falls Campground. The next day, we took the short jaunt to the falls themselves, before rolling out on the Hole in the Rock Road. We spent a little bit of time in Devil's Garden and the nearby slot canyons before eventually setting up camp somewhere along the road. The next morning, we set out down Hurricane Wash to access Coyote Gulch. Once in the canyon, we spent two nights in a gorgeous giant alcove between Jacob Hamlin Arch and Coyote Natural Bridge with a day trip to the Escalante Confluence in between. It was a fantastic trip in some fantastic country, a great introduction to desert backpacking.
